Invisible Music is City Place’s newest art installation of floating and interactive land-based musical sculptures that play an ever-changing musical composition by the artist Steve Parker.
Utilizing ambient music, soundscape, and Deep Listening practices, the piece works as an invitation for viewers to listen closely to the natural world and to bring attention to the subtle (and sometimes imperceptible) sounds of the natural world.
The musical content is this piece draws from several sources: compositions by Erik Satie arranged by the artist; natural soundscapes from Texas recorded by the artist; and an interactive chordal work that is activated by viewers that complements the sonic content played by the floating musical sculptures.
Invisible Music is the second of a series of temporary installations for 2024 and will be on display from July 20 through September 15.
