The weekend kicks off in elevated style on Friday with the ticketed Black Dinner for approximately 100 guests. The evening begins at 6 pm with a cocktail hour featuring live music, intricate Catrina face painting and the creation of flower crowns. As the sun sets, a candlelight procession is led by mojigangas (giant puppets) to the unveiling of a traditional altar to honor passed loved ones. Following the colorful experience, attendees are treated to a delectable four-course wine dinner that serves as a collaboration between an important visiting chef from Mexico and a talented Houston-based chef. The cost is approximately $150 per person, and special rates are available at the adjacent AAA Four Diamond City Place Marriott. Buy tickets here.
